The leaf spring decides how much the car will carry and how high the rear sits. A tired spring means a sagging car, a tyre rubbing the arch and a shock absorber working badly.

Leaf springs are replaced in pairs. It is worth replacing the bushings and shackles at the same time — after years in road salt the old hardware is usually not fit to reuse.
