Manual hubs let you disconnect the front axle shafts when you drive in two-wheel drive. Fewer parts turn, less wears out, drag and fuel use drop — and in the rough you are back in full 4x4 with a twist of the hand.
Fitting and notes
Replacement means removing the factory hub and keeping the job clean — any grit inside shortens the mechanism's life. Hubs are fitted in pairs.
Frequently asked questions
Automatic or manual?
Manual hubs are simpler and last longer, but you have to get out of the car. It is a deliberate trade for reliability.
Do I have to replace both?
Yes — hubs work as a pair, replacing one makes no sense.
