A pair of Raptor 4x4 D2800 dynamic leaf spring shackles for the Suzuki Samurai, built around a ball joint with a 2-inch shank. They let the spring end move in several planes, which adds a lot of axle articulation and roughly two inches of ride height. Price per pair.

Dynamic Leaf Spring Shackles D2800 Raptor 4x4 Suzuki Samurai (Pair)

On a twisted climb a Samurai runs out of traction long before it runs out of torque, because one wheel simply lifts off the ground. The culprit is a stiff spring end that can only swing in a single plane. A dynamic shackle changes that geometry: built around a ball joint, it lets the end of the leaf spring move sideways and rotate as well.

This is a pair of Raptor 4x4 D2800 shackles built on a 2-inch shank joint. As a side effect they raise the vehicle by roughly two inches, so they double as a simple lift.

Key benefits

  • Far more axle articulation than a plain flat shackle, so the tyres stay loaded instead of hanging in the air.
  • The ball joint takes movement in several planes, so the leaf pack is no longer twisted against itself under cross-axle load.
  • Around two inches of lift without changing the springs, which is useful while the existing leaf pack is still healthy.
  • The manufacturer builds them for use up to and including extreme driving, so the extra movement does not come at the cost of a flimsy part.

What is in the box

  • 2 D2800 dynamic shackles (the price covers the pair).

Who it is for. Samurais driven technically — rocks, ruts and off-camber climbs, where keeping rubber on the ground matters more than power. It is also a cheap route to two inches of ride height when the leaf pack itself is still in good shape.

Fitting notes

The shackle goes in the factory location, so the job itself is straightforward. Once the car sits two inches higher, check brake hose slack, driveshaft angles and alignment — standard practice after any ride-height change. The manufacturer highlights the articulation gain on the rear axle in particular. Our off-road workshop builds cars like this routinely if you would rather have it set up for you.

Why buy it

  • It improves what the car actually does off-road, not just how it looks.
  • Two jobs in one part: more suspension travel plus roughly two inches of lift.
  • Supplied as a pair, so both sides of the axle behave identically.

If you want the simplest meaningful articulation upgrade for a Samurai, start with the shackles — ask us if you want matching springs or dampers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the price for one shackle or a pair?

For the pair. The manufacturer states explicitly that the price refers to a set of two.

How much do they lift the car?

Around 2 inches, according to the source page.

Why use a moving shackle at all?

A conventional shackle only lets the leaf spring swing in one plane. A ball-jointed shackle also allows lateral movement and rotation, so the axle articulates further and the tyres stay loaded for longer.

Are these for the front or the rear?

The manufacturer highlights the articulation gain on the rear axle in particular. Ask us before ordering if you have a specific layout in mind.

Is anything else needed?

The kit covers the two shackles. After gaining two inches of height it is worth checking that the brake hoses still have enough slack.
