A snorkel made for the current Land Rover Defender L663 (2020 onwards). It moves the intake point from the engine bay up alongside the A-pillar, so the engine draws cleaner air on dusty tracks and is better protected during water crossings.

Snorkel for Land Rover Defender L663 (2020 onwards)

A standard Defender takes its air from around the inner wing — exactly where the thickest dust cloud sits on a gravel road and where water arrives first in a crossing. On tarmac that hardly matters. On an expedition vehicle it is the weak link in the intake.

A snorkel relocates the intake point high up, alongside the pillar at roof level. Air is cleaner and cooler there, and the intake tract is far less exposed to ingesting water when you drive through it.

MODEL
Land Rover Defender
GENERATION
L663, from 2020

Key benefits

  • Raised intake — the engine breathes above the layer where road dust hangs thickest.
  • More margin in water — the pick-up point sits considerably higher than the factory one, reducing the risk of water reaching the intake.
  • Generation-specific fitment — designed for the L663 Defender built from 2020, not a universal bolt-on.

Who it is for. Owners of the current Defender who genuinely use it away from tarmac: expeditions, forest tracks, long dry gravel stages and water crossings. If your Defender mostly does city miles, a snorkel is largely a styling choice.

Fitting notes

  • A snorkel involves work on the bodywork and the intake system, so it is worth having it fitted by a workshop that has done this model before.
  • A snorkel alone does not make the car amphibious — real wading depth also depends on axle and gearbox breathers and on how well everything else is sealed.

Why buy it

  • Made for one specific model and generation rather than approximated from a universal part.
  • It solves a real overlanding problem: dust and water in the intake.
  • Szekla4x4.pl is both an off-road shop and a workshop, so fitting and further build choices can be discussed with us.

If your plans for the Defender go beyond a forest road, a snorkel is one of the first things worth sorting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Defender does this snorkel fit?

The current-generation Land Rover Defender, model year 2020 onwards (L663). It is not a part for the classic Defender.

Why fit a snorkel at all?

It moves the air pick-up from the engine bay up to the pillar. The engine then breathes from a layer carrying less road dust, and the intake has a much larger safety margin in water.

Is a snorkel enough for wading?

No. A snorkel protects the intake, but real water capability also depends on axle, gearbox and transfer case breathers and on the condition of the remaining seals.

Does fitting require work on the bodywork?

Yes — installing a snorkel involves the bodywork and the intake system, so it is best handled by a workshop experienced with this model.
