APEX High Flow Chuck Screw-On - Open Flow Only
An APEX screw-on chuck that opens the Schrader valve 100%, where standard chucks usually manage around 50%. The black part is heat-treated 4140 chrome-moly steel with a QPQ salt-bath finish; the remaining parts are stainless. It seals on a metal seat, not on rubber. This is an open flow version only - it will not work with multi-hose systems.
APEX High Flow Chuck Screw-On - Open Flow Only
Every push-on chuck opens the valve a little differently depending on how hard you press. Across a full set of tyres that difference shows on the clock.
This one screws on: it always goes the same depth, so the flow is repeatable and does not depend on how hard you push.
TYPE Screw-on, open flow only | MATERIAL 4140 chrome moly steel, QPQ finish | VALVE OPENING 100% |
Key benefits
- opens the Schrader valve 100%, where standard chucks manage around 50% - hence the extra flow
- every connection opens the valve the same amount, so flow does not depend on hand pressure
- the black part is 4140 chrome moly steel, heat treated and QPQ salt-bath finished against rust; the rest is stainless
- it seals on a metal seat rather than rubber, so it does not wear out as quickly
- a threaded connection is more secure than push-on, at the cost of a few seconds

Who it is for
For anyone inflating from a single point, with a shop or cordless compressor, who wants repeatable flow and a chuck that does not wear out after one season.
Installation and notes
This is an open flow version only. The manufacturer states plainly that it will not work with multi-hose air up and air down systems, which need a closed flow chuck. For those setups the High Flow Push-On Chuck family with closed and open flow adapters is the right choice.
Frequently asked questions
Will it work in a four-tyre kit?
No. The manufacturer states plainly that this chuck does not work with multi-hose systems - those need the closed flow version.
Does it fit standard valves?
Yes. It is optimised for the APEX Rapid Precision Valve but also works with standard Schrader valves.
Why screw-on rather than push-on?
A threaded connection is more secure and opens the valve the same amount every time. It costs a few extra seconds per wheel.
Why it is worth it
- repeatable flow that does not depend on hand pressure
- a metal seat and QPQ steel instead of rubber that beds in and leaks
